In Memoriam of Naomie Skinner
[Dallas, TX, February 2022—] The National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition honors and mourns the life of Naomie Skinner, a 26-year-old black transgender woman, who died as a result of domestic violence.
Naomie is the third transgender person who has been reported killed in 2022. According to news outlets in Detroit, where she was at the time of her death, police are reporting that an argument escalated, which ended with her life. There is very little information about her personal life, but she was originally from Kentucky and her family is trying to bring her back home.
The National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition strives to bring awareness about the violence against the transgrender community. According to the Human Rights Watch Organization, in 2021, at least 56 transgender people were killed, one of the most violent years for this community.
BTAC offers support to the black trans community that may be experiencing violence or difficult times. If you would like more information about our services and programs, please call (855) 624-7715 or visit our website at www.blacktrans.org
