Want to Help Lead The Conference? We are actively seeking community members and allies to join our Conference Volunteer Staff to help make BTAC Conference 2025 a success. Committees play an essential role in BTAC’s conference operations. Joining a committee allows you to play a bigger role in BTAC’s major initiatives, from planning, organizing, and implementing all aspects of the conference.
Committee Members Expectations
- Be available to serve on a cohort of 3-5 people from December 2024 through May 2025.
- Be prepared to dedicate 4-8 hours each month, no less than 20hrs for the term, to the work of the committee, including participation in conference calls, team meetings, and completing project tasks
- Be prepared to dedicate 20 hours on the desired committee shift during the conference
- Serve as needed during the conference to complete committee task and ensure committee success.
- Attend bi-weekly meetings held Thursday 6 pm cst beginning Dec 12 through the end of May.
- Attend the mandatory team meeting on time at 11 am on Monday, April 22.
- Document all volunteer hours served on the committee
- Demonstrate a professional background or interest that can enhance the objectives of the committee
- Ability to serve the 2025 National Black Trans Advocacy Conference in Dallas, Texas. Committee Check-in Monday, April 21.
Benefits of Committee Members
Applicants who are selected to serve on a conference committee will receive travel accommodations to the conference including full event registration, 50% discount or room share host hotel lodging, participation certificate and acknowledgment. Committee members who complete the duration and hours required of the program will also receive a monetary stipend.
Selection Process
- The Committee Member Nominee submits their application by November 15th, 2024 11:59pm CST.
- The Nominee undergoes a brief 20-minute eligibility interview.
- Selection Committee reviews applications to determine whether eligibility criteria are met.
- Committee Members selected are notified via email (by early December 2023).
- Travel Arrangements Finalized by March 1 2025.
- Monetary Stipend Finalized by May 27 2025.

- Hospitality Room Support
The Education & Training Committee members will work on one or more of the following:
- General Education Workshops: Identity Development & Holistic Wellness Topics
- Advocacy Leadership Training Workshops: Social Advocacy, Health, Housing, Employment, Anti-Violence Topics
- Professional Training Workshops: CBO Executive Leadership, Community Partner, Service Provider Topics
- General Session Luncheon: Community Summit & Keynote Address
The Empowerment Zone Committee members will work on one of the following:
- EmpowerHER Summit (Transwomen)
- EmpowerHIM Summit (Transmen)
- EmpowerTHEM Summit (Non-binary/GNC)
- Parent & Kids Summit (Youth Age up to 19)
- Golden Flames Summit (Senior Age 55+)
- Anchors Summit (Spouses & Partners)
The Featured Event Committee members will work on one or more of the following events:
- TransManifest Live
- Black Trans International Pageant
- Black Trans Advocacy Awards Gala
- Family Day
- Black Diamond Ball
